Sue Williams Biography
Sue Williams CCol FSDC co-founded Instrumental Colour Systems (ICS) Ltd in 1969 having already built a career in colour management in pigments and plastics.
As Applications Director, then Colour Development Director she led a team of specialists working across all industries.
In 1987 she headed the team which was responsible for the development of the MS89 equation from MS83A.
In 1990 Datacolor (DCI) purchased ICS, where Sue became first UK Manager of Development then Product Manager for DCI's Match Prediction software.
The new ICS - Independent Colour Systems – was formed in 1996 where Sue was Managing Director and oversaw the merger with Eurocolor in 1998 producing a 1/2 million pound turnover.
Eurocolor was acquired by GretagMacbeth in 1999, who leveraged Sue's experience and expertise to provide pre-sales consultancy on their colour management software to key European specifiers.
Sue formed Global Colour Solutions Ltd. (GCS) in 2001 to carry out consultancy, education and training.
For the next four years GCS worked closely with DigiEye plc helping to develop a pioneering digital imaging system for work in the measurement of fastness, colour and appearance.
GCS Ltd was acquired by DigiEye plc in March 2007.
In 2006 Sue was elected as President of the SDC for the year 2008, which together with the preceeding President Elect year will see her kept busy on a range of engagements around the globe.
Independent Colour Solutions was formed in order to enable Sue to continue to deliver unbiased Education and Training into the colour measurement market, as well continuing her work with the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC).
